Employment Grows in Cuba, Labor Minister Says

Havana, July 7 (ACN) Cuba’s Labor and Social Security Minister Marta Feito said that employment is growing on the island while its job quality serves as incentive for the workers.

On her Twitter account the government official said that the results achieved since the country implemented the monetary reforms have defied the negative impact by the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.

Up to June 30 over 194 thousand citizens applied for jobs at the labor offices, while nearly 140 thousand accepted the job proposals. Out of this figure 36 percent are young workers with a significant number of young women. The new jobs include both the state and non-state sectors.
