MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 26 (ACN) Exhibitions, workshops and other activities related to health promotion will take place in Matanzas (western Cuba) March 16-21, as part of Brain Awareness Week (BAW), to raise awareness of advances in neuroscience.
Laura Carrasco, communicator of the direction of public health in Matanzas, told the ACN there will also be festivals, fairs, conferences and panels during the event, focusing on promoting intellectual development and creativity.
Carrasco said that among the objectives of the program highlights the intention to help prevent intellectual disability, addictions, depression, violence, social dysfunction, dementia, cerebrovascular disease and other conditions with a marked impact on society.
Brain Awareness Week is a global campaign created in 1996 by the altruistic organization Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, with dozens of countries joining each year, including Cuba.
Mental disorders, neurological diseases, prevention strategies, treatments, community participation, and the impact of neuroscience on the daily lives of human beings around the world are some of the issues addressed during this week.
