Cuban and Congolese PMs to expand cooperation



 HAVANA, Cuba, March 18 (ACN) Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero held a working session with his Congolese counterpart, Anatole Collinet Makosso, at the Congressional Palace in Congo to discuss the potential for expanding bilateral cooperation.

On the second day of an official visit that will last until tomorrow, March 19, the Cuban delegation attended a working session with a team of Congolese ministers, led by the premier, Collinet Makosso.

According to the Cuban government on X, the meeting revealed the willingness to strengthen and expand cooperation.

They discussed the potential for strengthening collaboration, not only in health and education, but also in sectors such as energy, agriculture, tourism, culture, biotechnology and defense.

Previously, an official welcoming ceremony for Marrero Cruz, who arrived in that African nation on Monday afternoon, was held at the Government headquarters of El Congo.

Cuban premier wrote in the visitors' book that it is a great honor, on behalf of the Cuban people and government, to pay tribute to Marien Ngouabi, a great friend of Cuba and of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, and the driving force behind relations and cooperation between the two people.

According to the Cuban Government, the visit will strengthen political, economic-commercial and cooperation relations.

The Caribbean delegation also includes Jose Angel Portal Miranda, minister of public health; Deborah Rivas Saavedra, deputy minister of foreign trade and investment; Carlos Miguel Pereira Hernandez, director general of bilateral affairs of the foreign ministry, as well as Indira Napoles Coello, Cuban ambassador to the Republic of the Congo.

The work program includes bilateral meetings with high-level Congolese authorities and exchanges with solidarity representatives and members of the Cuban State Mission.

Since May 10, 1964, the Caribbean country and the host nation established diplomatic relations.
