Havana, Jan 31 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called for a new world order based on solidarity, cooperation and the respect for the decision of each country to adopt its own political, economic and social system, with no interference.
In his closing remarks of the 6th International Conference for World Balance, held in Havana, the head of state stressed that the new order must be a democratic model in which all nations get the chance to be appropriately represented on equal ground.
Diaz-Canel said that challenges to achieve such order or to at least approach it are immense and he went on to not that it all requires unity, strategies and a clear vision about the goal.
A new world order must be a sustainable model promoting peace, the security of all, social justice, equitable prosperity, respect for cultural, religious and ethnic plurality, as well providing access to science, technology and human rights for all.
However, the Cuban leader warned that the oligarchies rule the world today because the concentrate political, cultural and social power and try to perpetuate the benefit to the rich on the expenses of the majorities.
Big industrial corporations, financial conglomerates and technology giants have the power to take decisions affecting the life of millions of people, from access to crucial medications to the data privacy.
The Cuban president said that developing nations have the right to develop a better world and they must fight for that. But this would only be possible with actions to advance towards a world model different from the current one.
