HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) With the recent incorporation of Cuba, the constitutive agreement of the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE by its Spanish acronym) will enter into force, Cuban foreign ministry announced today.
Marcos Rodriguez Costa, ambassador to Mexico, deposited the instrument on behalf of Cuba, being the eleventh country to adhere to the Convention, thus fulfilling the number of ratifications required for its application.
During his speech at the headquarters of the Mexican foreign affairs ministry, the Cuban diplomat emphasized that the Agency is a Latin American effort, and this effort has been based on the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
“It is a consensual policy of Cuba to support everything that means Latin American integration; it is of great importance for us that Latin American countries have the opportunity to work together in this endeavor,” he said.
ALCE, which will have its headquarters in Mexico, will be an international organization that will coordinate cooperation activities for the exploration and research of space technology for the benefit of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
