HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) I am convinced that we are going to move forward, said Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, at a meeting on Sunday at the Cuban Embassy to Mexico.
As reported by the Presidency on its website, in his words the President highlighted the wisdom and altruism of the Cuban people, and affirmed that only work will make it possible for Cubans to get out of the U.S. blockade that makes life more difficult every day.
Marcos Rodriguez Costa, ambassador of the Caribbean island to Mexico, warmly and familiarly received the President, his companion Lis Cuesta and the members of the high-level delegation, who arrived in Mexican territory to attend the inauguration of Claudia Sheinbaum as President, and to hold meetings with friends and personalities.
Diaz-Canel highlighted the importance of the exchange with Cuban compatriots in Mexico, while stressing the solidarity and support of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to Cuba during his term in office.
The dignitary was emphatic when speaking about Lopez Obrador's direct and coherent support and confessed not to forget what the Aztec leader said when the accident occurred in Cuba at the Supertanker Base in Matanzas province: the brothers are not asked what they need; first they are sent help and then they are asked.
He emphasized how Lopez Obrador always looked for ways in which Cuba could get out of the tightened blockade and his constant gratitude to the Cuban doctors.
The head of state updated those present on the complex situation in the Caribbean country and on the strategies of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Government to reverse distortions and move forward.
Diaz-Canel referred to the visit to Cuba of Vietnamese President To Lam, on which occasion plans were signed, such as the cooperation plan between the Cuban ministry of agriculture and the ministry of agriculture and rural development of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, on the promotion of rice production to gradually ensure food security in Cuba in the 2025-2027 period and up to 2035.
In his closing remarks, Cuban head of state expressed the importance of Mexico for Cuba and emphasized that in the long time that has passed, in good times and bad, no one has succeeded in breaking the friendship: “There are many milestones that unite us in the common history of both countries,” he declared.
