HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 2 (ACN) David Ranibok W. Adeang, president of the Republic of Nauru, concluded his official visit to Cuba, where he met with his counterpart Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to strengthen bilateral relations and promote cooperation agreements between the two nations.
In statements to the press, Mr. Ranibok expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality received from the Cuban Government and people and referred to the signing of cooperation agreements and stressed both the decision to consolidate the bonds of friendship with Cuba and President Díaz-Canel, whom he invited to visit Nauru, and his country’s opposition to the U.S. blockade.
During his official visit, Cuba and Nauru signed memorandums for cooperation in health, technical development of sports and physical education, environmental protection, and the fight against climate change, as well as agreements related to visa services for holders of diplomatic and official passports.
David Ranibok Adeang, elected as the 17th president of the Republic of Nauru—an island country located in the central Pacific Ocean with which Cuba established diplomatic on May 7, 2002—is a prominent politician who has played an important role in the governance of his nation.
