Nicaragua Demands Withdrawal of Cuba from US Blacklist

Havana, May 22 (ACN) Nicaragua’s Foreign Ministry issued a news release on Wednesday demanding the withdrawal of Cuba from the unilateral US list of states sponsors of terrorism.

The news release, shared by the Cuban Foreign Ministry, reiterates the firm stance of the Nicaraguan government against the over-60-year inhumane economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island nation.

Nicaragua says that the blacklisting of Cuba under false pretexts runs contrary to International Law and the UN Charter.

The US list is an instrument used by Washington to justify its adoption of illegal, coercive measure to put economic and political pressure in a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Cuban state, reads the news release.

The government of Nicaragua will continue to promote in all international forums the respect and honoring of UN resolutions calling for the end of the illegal US policy against Cuba, the news release concludes.
