HAVANA, Cuba, May 19 (ACN) Young people from India who study José Martí’s life and work highlighted their love for Cuba and for the ideas of the Apostle on the 129th anniversary of his fall in combat.
In a message to Prensa Latina, Ramit Singh Chimni, president of the International UNESCO/José Martí Prize Jury and co-founder of the Eight Goals One Foundation (8one), highlighted the impact of Marti's thought on India and described it as part of the character of the Cuban people.
“The world needs to understand the ideas of Cuba's National Hero on freedom, justice and humanity,” he pointed out, “which he explained very well and now live in the spirit of today’s Cuba, where the people are joyful and humanist by nature despite their problems. That is why I say that the world needs Cuba more than Cuba needs the world.”
On her end, Karthika Sajeev Changam, international collaborator of the José Martí Program Office and 8one core team member, referred to various initiatives undertaken by the organization based on Martí’s ideas, such as the projects Patria Libros, the best digital library of Cuban literature, and Patria Siembra, inspired by his vision of the natural man and intended to encourage people to grow their own food, connect with nature, and create a self-sufficient Cuba.
