Turkish parliamentary leader highlights Fidel's historical legacy

HAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (ACN) Numan Kurtulmuş, president of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, paid tribute to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro in a visit he made to the Center named after the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, in Havana, where he was accompanied by Esteban Lazo Hernandez, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and the Council of State.

It is a very well-designed center that transmits the principles of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and also of the Cuban Revolution, he assured during the visit to the institution, according to the Cuban legislative website.

Speaking to the press in one of the specialized rooms, Kurtulmus highlighted the admiration for the work of the Commander in Chief and the relevance "that the country has placed in the hands of current and future generations by creating the museum".

During the day, the head of the Turkish legislative body recalled Fidel's historic visit to his country in 1996, to the "Habitat II" Summit, his meetings with the main Turkish leaders of the time, and his great satisfaction upon arriving in Istanbul, when he said: "It is almost a dream (to be in Turkey) (...) a dream of history, a dream that was fulfilled of the thousands of years that have passed through this region where Turkey has played such a prominent role, it is really like a novel by Garcia Marquez".

In his busy schedule in Cuba, Numan Kurtulmuş also visited historical and cultural centers of Old Havana to learn a little more about the island's culture and traditions.

At his farewell, the Turkish parliamentary leader said: "We are returning from Cuba with very nice memories".
