HAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (ACN) With the purpose of sharing experiences in socialist construction, the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party ( LPRP) held today, in Havana, the 2nd Joint Theoretical Seminar to discuss these issues.
The meeting, continuity of the first edition held in Asian lands, was headed by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, and Bounthong Chitmany, member of the Political Bureau and permanent secretary of the Central Committee of the LPRP and vice president of that country, on an official visit to the island.
Morales Ojeda stressed that Cuba and Laos are joined by the common aspiration to build socialism with their own particularities as the only possible way to achieve all possible justice.
He explained that the PCC assumes the political and revolutionary task of focusing efforts on strengthening leadership and promoting economic development as a way to fight against the brutal application of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, the unilateral inclusion in the list of alleged State sponsors of terrorism and the actions of subversive and media warfare.
The party leader pointed out that work is also being done to face the ideological and specific consequences of putting into practice the transformations contemplated in the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, which can be seen at present in the government's projections to correct distortions and boost the economy.
The guidelines for the PCC will always be in the Marxist-Leninist theory, in the ideas of Jose Marti, in the revolutionary practice and the example of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz and the teachings of Army General Raul Castro Ruz, he added.
Bounthong Chitmany agreed with this perspective and praised the successful management of the PCC in the face of the great challenges it has faced without renouncing to its economic and social development project.
The visitor praised the occasion for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations between the two countries, on November 24, 1974.
This, he said, represents a confirmation of the strength and vitality of the ties characterized by Cuba's cooperation with the training of young Laotians and the accompaniment of the Southeast Asian nation to the struggle for the end of the imperialist blockade.
This proves the closeness between the parties, people and governments of both countries despite the geographical distance, Bounthong Chitmany remarked.
