HAVANA, Cuba, May 5 (ACN) In a post on X, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel lamented the damages and victims caused by severe weather events in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul.
“You have all our solidarity and support; our condolences to the families and friends of the victims and to your government,” the Cuban leader wrote in his message to his Brazilian counterpart, Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, to whom he gave assurances that Cuba will stay alert to developments in the South American country.
In another post, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla expressed his solidarity with the people and government of Brazil, where heavy rains caused floods that left behind at least 54 people dead, 60 missing, and more than 24,500 homeless, which Paulo Pimenta, Secretary of Social Communication of the Presidency of Brazil, described as the worst meteorological catastrophe ever suffered by that state.
