HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 17 (ACN) The 263 delegates to the sessions of the International Tribunal against the US blockade on Cuba, which concluded today at the European Parliament, issued the Brussels Declaration in support of the verdict of the judges condemning the US government for crimes of aggression and crimes against humanity that could lead to the genocide of the Cuban people.
The signatories come from 21 nations, including representatives of the solidarity movement with the island; parliamentarians and personalities who demand the end of the economic siege that has lasted for more than 60 years as well as compensation for the victims.
They also reiterated their demand for the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism and reiterated their support for the Cuban people who are resisting the pressures and suffering the consequences of the criminal blockade, in violation of international law.
The statement expresses the commitment to plan global and coordinated actions with friendship associations around the world to make the legal content of the sentence reach all institutions and civil society activists in order to increase international pressure to force the United States to eliminate the enormous violation of human rights that the blockade constitutes.
The Tribunal held a two-day session with prestigious judges and prosecutors from Europe and the US, European deputies, political leaders, experts and witnesses, and a Cuban delegation made up of Homero Acosta Alvarez, secretary of the National Assembly of People's Power, Fernando Gonzalez Llort, president of the Cuban Friendship Institute (ICAP by its Spanish acronym) and representatives from different sectors of society.
