Cuban deputy PM confirms gratitude to Cuba in Caribbean country



HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 18 (ACN) Jorge Luis Perdomo Di-Lella, Cuban deputy prime minister, noted today the gratitude and sense of commitment that exists for Cuba in St. Kitts and Nevis, during a meeting with resident nationals and St. Kitts and Nevis graduates in Cuba.

Perdomo Di-Lella, who is in that Caribbean country, the smallest in the American continent, to participate in the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of its independence, met with friends of Cuba, reported X, Gustavo Daniel Veliz, director for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Sunday the Cuban deputy prime minister reaffirmed the brotherhood ties between both nations in a dialogue with Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Geoffrey Hanley, deputy prime minister of that country, a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.

During the talks, the Cuban official expressed satisfaction for being in that sister nation of the Eastern Caribbean, and for the possibility of participating in the celebrations for the four decades of its independence from the United Kingdom.

The deputy prime minister conveyed an invitation from President Miguel Diaz-Canel to the prime minister of St. Kitts and Nevis to visit the island.

For his part, Drew expressed the gratitude on behalf of his people to the Cuban government for the collaboration in health matters and the possibility it offers for young people from his country to study in its universities.

Cuban delegation is composed of Gustavo Daniel Veliz, director for Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Marcia Cobas, official of the Executive Committee of the Council of Ministers, and David Rivero Perez, ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis.
St. Kitts and Nevis achieved independence on September 19, 1983 and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
