HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (ACN) On the 18th anniversary of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America-People's Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), regional leaders and Cuban authorities highlighted today the importance of this body for integration.
Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez described as transcendental the creation of ALBA-TCP on December 14, 2004 by the historic leaders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez as part of a welcoming message to the Latin American and Caribbean representatives who are in Havana for the 22nd Summit of Heads of State and Government of the member countries.
On his end, Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said that in this political, economic and social alliance lies the hope of the region in the face of domination and injustice, whereas Bolivian President Luis Arce praised these 18 years of unity and commitment to Latin American and Caribbean integration.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, remarked that the birth of ALBA-TCP defined a course of struggle and resistance, optimism and hopes, solidarity and integration for the benefit of the whole region.
ALBA-TCP is a political, economic and social alliance made up of 10 member countries: Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Grenada and Cuba.
