HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 13 (ACN) Hammoudeh Sabbag, president of the People's Assembly of Syria, expressed gratitude to Cuba for the support, solidarity and friendship with his country, in a meeting with the Cuban ambassador to that Arab nation, Miguel Porto.
We are proud of our relationship with Cuba and we ratify the support for its people, Parliament, government and party, Sabbag said during the meeting, according to the website of the Cuban National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).
The leader ratified the will to promote parliamentary relations and assured that Damascus and Havana face a common enemy that seeks to undermine the independent and sovereign decision of both countries.
Cuba is 90 miles from the shores of the United States and is a thorn in the side of imperialism just as Syria is, despite being thousands of kilometers away, but surrounded by fleets and forces of evil, he remarked.
According to Sabbag, Syria's decision since the beginning of the war 10 years ago has been not to resign or surrender, just like Cuba's decision 61 years ago when the Revolution triumphed.
In turn, Ambassador Porto ratified the invariable Cuban stance of support for Syria in its fight against international terrorism and condemned the policy of blockade and sanctions imposed on both nations.
Porto delivered a message of congratulations to the president of the Syrian legislature for his re-election in office on behalf of Esteban Lazo, ANPP President.
