HAVANA, Cuba, October 29 (ACN) Just hours before the opening of the VI Junior Parapan American Games in Chile 2025, Aruco, the mascot of the multi-sport event, is already winning the hearts of children, young people and sports fans who are looking forward to seeing it in the Chilean capital from October 31 to November 9.
Days ago, according to the organizers, Aruco was taken on a tour of various schools and institutions with a view to explaining the characteristics of the Games, expected to gather 1,100 athletes from 27 countries.
Aruco represents a small araucaria, an ancient tree found in Chile’s southern forests and sacred to the Mapuche people as a symbol of strength, resilience, and connection to the land.
The first ever mascot with a visual impairment, Aruco embodies values such as resilience, inclusion, identity, and hope and reflects growth, diversity, and the union between tradition and future, representing the spirit of the young para-athletes who will compete in the Games.
