HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 30 (ACN) A sports cooperation agreement was signed between the Cuban and Chilean Olympic Committees, taking advantage of the exchange framework offered by the First Junior Pan American Games, held in this Colombian city.
Roberto Leon Richards, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee (COC), and Miguel Angel Mujica, his Chilean counterpart, signed the document in one of the halls of the Intercontinental Hotel, home of the main directors of Panam Sports and of the 41 countries of the continent attending the multi-sport event in Cali.
The agreement seeks to develop sports ties, cooperation and understanding between the athletic systems of both nations, just when less than two years are left for the celebration of the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.
It is is aimed at the organization of sports programs, equipment and facilities, training and development of specialists, academic exchange, medicine, anti-doping control, sports for all, information technology and management, and advice for the organization of multi-sport events.
Neven Ilic, president of Panam Sports and member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), recalled that "we have always had good relations with Cuba and the desire to work together. Chile has a lot to learn from Cuba, you can help us in many things".
The signing was also attended by COC secretary general, Ruperto Herrera Tabio; IOC member, Maria Caridad Colon; and COC vice president and head of the Pan American Cycling Confederation, Jose Pelaez.
