HAVANA, Cuba, January 2 (ACN) A series of modifications to the rates for the Land Transportation Tax and the Tax on the Ownership or Possession of Vessels will take effect nationwide starting January 1rst, in accordance with Law 181 of the State Budget for 2026.
The Tax Portal of the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT) highlights that Annex 2 of Law 113, "On the Tax System," has been amended, establishing the amounts payable based on the vehicle classification.
Payment of taxes for the ownership or possession of motor vehicles and animal-drawn vehicles used for land transportation, as well as for vessels, is annual.
The voluntary payment period ends on September 30, but a 5% discount is offered for early payment by February 28. All owners or possessors of these assets are required to register them with the ONAT office in their respective municipalities.
The ONAT reminds its individual taxpayers that they can make payments through electronic channels and receive a 3% discount on the amount due.
