HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 21 (ACN) The micro, small and medium-sized private enterprise (MSME) EMJERCI, located in the city of Camaguey (central Cuba), is an example of the possibilities of this kind of business development for the Cuban economy.
Its objective will be to offer exclusive services of rectification of shafts and crankshafts from 1.50 to 5.50 meters, from a Russian technology plant, unique in the country and the Caribbean, which will provide these services to different types of vessels, locomotives, power plant, rotors and electric plants.
EMJERCI was officially established in November this year and is located at the Camaguey Railway Workshops; one of the largest in Cuba specialized in the repair and maintenance of railcars and locomotives, where the components of these vehicles are also serviced.
Radames Garcia Jimenez, main specialist and founding partner with extensive knowledge of the technology, said that the restarting of the plant will mean a boost to these works for the state entity, which rents the premises to the MSMEs and the latter will offer differentiated prices.
Previously, repair work had to be carried out abroad, which took three months or more, in Korea or Spain, for example, when in fact it only takes seven days, said the specialist, referring to the benefits of the creation of the MSME.
For his part, Elvis Alvarez Nuñez, administrator and representative of EMJERCI and a computer engineer by profession, considered this project as a very good strategy, which will contribute to improve the current situation of the country, and will make it possible to replace imports and enter the international market in order to attract foreign currency, through a service that does not exist in other Caribbean nations.
The MSMEs are an important source of employment, he affirmed. Here we have four workers, among them an assistant and a legal-economic expert, the latter in charge of the contractual and economic aspects.
