CIEGO DE ÁVILA, Cuba, May 26 (ACN) Despite the obsolescence of machinery and the limitations imposed by the U.S. blockade, the Raw Materials Recovery Enterprise (ERMP) in the province of Ciego de Avila maintains a high technological standard thanks to its group of innovators and rationalizers.
ERMP Director of Operations Kendry Mastrapa said that most employees are linked to the National Association of Innovators and Rationalizers (ANIR) and participating in the creation and salvage of parts to keep the equipment operational.
“The conversion of a backhoe into a crane helps us move raw materials around the entity's yard and load the trains, for example, with more than 500 tons of steel that we send every month to the factories in charge of housing construction materials. ANIR members have also invented equipment bottle washers, cable strippers, glass grinders and other machines, proof of the efforts to find solutions, diversify our output, and establish production linkages,” he pointed out.
Given the restrictions on technological modernization and the purchase of spare parts, the ingenuity of the aniristas makes it possible to salvage vehicles and equipment.
The U.S. blockade also affects the processing of raw materials, in light of Cuba’s limitations to import goods and make investments, which leads to delays in the processes to replace them and difficulties for economic recovery
