VARADERO BEACH, Cuba, Apr 22 (ACN) With the arrival today of the Royal Flight airline flight from Moscow, which restarted operations through the Juan G. Gomez International Airport, the Russian market shows its preference for Cuba's largest sun and beach resort despite the global pandemic.
At 4:40 a.m. this morning, the Boeing 777 carrying almost 500 passengers landed to mark the second flight from Russia this April. The first one arrived last Sunday, and a third flight is scheduled for the 26th, airport authorities reported.
Liset Borrell Valle, deputy director of Marketing of the agency Cubatur, host of more than 100 tour operators, said that Cuba is prepared to welcome tourists who consider the Island a safe destination in the midst of the crisis caused by COVID-19.
They will stay in a dozen resorts furnished with the medical and nursing resources and staff in charge of enforcing the biosafety protocols established by the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Tourism.
Cubatur offers a package of tours in compliance with sanitary measures, mainly nautical activities, with the Zapata Swamp as the only open space for nature tourism, the specialist underscored.
Upon their arrival, all travelers will undergo the polymerase chain reaction test, known as PCR, before leaving for the hotel, and they will remain in the facilities until they receive the test result.
Angel Sanchez, director of Caribbean operations of the Spanish hotel chain Roc, pointed out that Cuba is a strength in the area because of the way it handles the epidemic, with figures that cannot be compared with the rest of the world. The Russian market opens the door, but we expect, depending on the global situation, other markets such as Canada and Spain to do likewise in the near future.
