HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 15 (ACN) Diorgys Hernández Díaz, general director of Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Food Industry (MINAL), reported that the first non-commercial productions in the process of starting up the production lines of Nescor S.A. were already carried out.
Nescor S.A. is a Cuban-Swiss joint venture between Swiss Nestlé and Cuban Coralsa, that in 2018 became the thirteenth business in the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM) to start operations.
From a temporary headquarters in the Logistics Activities Zone in Mariel, the entity is expected to supply some four thousand points of sale of the CIMEX, Caracol, TRD Caribe and Palco chains throughout the country.
With an initial investment of US$55 million, the plant, of about 13 thousand square meters, will have a production capacity of about 18 thousand tons per year, and the start of productions will allow marketing its products in the country at a lower price than the current one.
Incorporated in November 2017, Nescor S.A. is the third Swiss joint venture in Cuba, and the first from that country in the ZEDM, according to information provided on the Mariel website.
The multinational Nestlé is an international leader in food production, while the CORALSA corporation has extensive experience in the food industry activity in Cuba.
