SANTA CLARA, Cuba, Mar 9 (ACN) The incorporation of productions in the electronic market is one of the actions developed by the Desembarco del Granma Textile Enterprise, in Villa Clara, with the aim of reducing the costs of imported materials and other expenses.
The online sales, started in the industry last August, allowed in six months the commercialization of 40, 000 pesos in foreign currency, mainly in sewing thread, then white raw linen and poplins of different colors, said Victor Alejandro Perez, director of the entity, to the Cuban News Agency.
He added that they are working on collaboration projects with artists from the Cultural Goods Fund to give added value to the fabrics.
As he explained, after an exhaustive analysis of the cost sheets, as part of the Ordering Task, in an industry where more than 70 % of its raw materials are imported, they consider possibilities to reduce expenses.
Of the three types of products that the company manufactures, only the production of thread allows it to obtain profits; surgical gauze uses some domestic raw materials that favor the reduction of losses, which is not the case with fabric, the executive continued.
Perez stressed that the company is seeking financing for investments in an effort not to depend only on less elaborated fibers, but to reach the manufacture of the necessary yarn, in an industry that is a high consumer of fuel oil and electric energy.
The preparation previous to the application of the Ordering Task, a process that began in Cuba last January, allowed a greater transparency on the costs and the possibilities to increase the entries in freely convertible currency, with the objective of reducing economic affectations, he concluded.
