HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 27 (ACN) Cubans Brady Izquierdo and Javier Curbelo were awarded at the Covid-19 International Cartoon Contest of Kartal, a town belonging to the metropolitan area of Istanbul, Turkey.
According to a note from the Cuban embassy in that nation, Izquierdo obtained the Honorable Mention, while Curbelo earned the special award of the jury at the contest where 989 works submitted by 467 artists from 56 countries participated.
The jury was made up by renowned representatives of the artistic field of Ukraine, Iran, Italy and Turkey, who awarded recognitions to 12 cartoonists, including the two Cubans, active collaborators of publications from their country such as Bohemia and Melaito.
The event focused on the social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and was sponsored by the Kartal mayor's office and Turkey's Hasat Art Workshop, the information noted.
For her part, the president of the Association of Cuban Residents in Turkey, Hakely Nakao, received the awards on behalf of her fellow winners, while ambassador, Luis Amorós, sent a message of gratitude to the organizers of the contest.
