HAVANA, Cuba, January 27 (ACN) On the occasion of the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, Cuba reaffirms its commitment to the fight against all forms of discrimination, including antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, and religious intolerance.
This was stated today by Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who emphasized in his message the urgent need for a more inclusive and democratic world order.
Cuban head of diplomacy also stressed the need to respect the right to peace, life, and well-being of all people.
This International Day was established by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 60/7 in 2005, which designated January 27 as the commemoration date, the anniversary of the liberation of the German Nazi concentration and extermination camp of Auschwitz-Birkenau (in 1945).
As the United Nations highlights on its website, the date is a reminder of the dangers of hatred, intolerance and antisemitism, and a call to remember, reflect and act to ensure that such atrocities are not repeated.
