HAVANA, Cuba, January 9 (ACN) Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and President of the Republic, highlighted today the progress of the extraordinary plenary sessions of the political organization's provincial committees, noting that these sessions define concepts and working methods for 2026.
In his remarks, Díaz-Canel indicated that he will attend the meetings in Granma and Holguín this Friday, as part of a process that began this Wednesday in Pinar del Río and Artemisa, and which will take place in all provinces, in order to follow up on the agreements reached during the 11th Plenum of the PCC Central Committee.
In his message, the First Secretary emphasized that during his participation in the plenary sessions in Guantánamo and Santiago de Cuba onThursday, he called for a focus on the country's priorities and for defending them at the grassroots level.
According to the Presidency, Díaz-Canel emphasized in these meetings that, regardless of the obstacle posed by the blockade, there are things in the country that need transforming, but this requires a change of mentality in the work of the Party and in the management of the economy.
"We, as the Party, must focus and orient ourselves toward the priorities and the arenas where those priorities are developed, which is at the grassroots level," the First Secretary stated.
He also insisted on the concept of unity, based on the ideas of Fidel and Raúl, which, he reiterated, is not built uncritically, without debate, without getting involved in problems.
"When one remains silent so as not to cause trouble and problems continue to accumulate, or when one remains silent to protect oneself, there is no unity; that is a lie, that is uncritical unity, that unity is formal, it is fictitious," he warned.
Díaz-Canel also addressed topics such as democracy in the organization and popular participation and control in all areas.
Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the PCC, outlined the priorities of the Party and the country for this year: strengthening unity, strengthening political and ideological work, ensuring the implementation of the Government Program to correct distortions and revitalize the economy, and confronting the deviations and negative trends present in Cuban society.
