
MATANZAS, Cuba, January 8 (ACN) As they traveled through the province of Matanzas, the young people reenacting the Freedom Caravan left a message of inspiration for the new generations of Cubans that a better future is possible and a condemnation of the U.S. military aggression against Venezuela.
Speaking on behalf of the youth of the province at a rally organized on Wednesday, Amanda Hernández Boffil, provincial president of the Federation of High School Students (FEEM), stated that they were using the symbolic tradition to condemn the genocide in the sister South American nation.
“Today we raise our voices for the children, adolescents, young people, and the population in general to raise awareness worldwide about the importance of preserving peace”, she remarked.
On his end, Andro Puñales Jaime, a student at the local University of Medical Sciences, pointed out these are times to believe and act in an effort to propel the country forward in the economic battle it is waging.
“Today, revolutionary fervor is more palpable than ever. The number of people and their enthusiasm are felt differently, and I believe that has much to do with the wish of the people of Matanzas to make their voices heard in favor of Venezuela, which amounts to doing it for peace and justice”, he said.
In the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, the historical leader of the Revolution, outstanding young people of the province reenacted the Freedom Caravan, starred 67 years ago by members of the triumphant Rebel Army, led by Fidel himself, who addressed the people from one of the balconies of the building that now houses the local government.
