HAVANA, Cuba, November 25 (ACN) The Center for Advanced Studies of Cuba (CEA) invited Cuban and foreign businesspeople to the presentation of its products at the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025), which will run until next Saturday at the Expocuba fairgrounds.
One of these products is the CEA - NANO + MYCO KIT – HV, a nano-system for microbiological diagnosis of mycoplasmas and ureaplasmas, along with its corresponding instruction manual, its creators informed the Cuban News Agency.
The presentation will take place starting tomorrow in the Business Roundtable Hall, where the team, which also focuses on bionanomedicine, agriculture, energy, water, the environment, and construction, will be exhibiting.
It is one of the youngest institutions within the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, although it has a national program and is developing its strategy through 2030, given its significant role in the country's future socio-economic development.
The importance of its technological platform stems from Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro's vision of introducing nanoscience and nanotechnology and rapidly expanding them across all sectors of the economy, according to industry specialists.
Opened in 2019 by Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, its first phase is remarkable for its scale, as it is expected to impact the development of new products and technologies.
Its scope includes materials, algorithms, technology transfer, import substitution, and the creation of a foundation for exportable goods, as well as increasing the visibility of Cuban science worldwide.
Experts define nanoscience as the study of phenomena and the manipulation of materials at the atomic, molecular, or macromolecular scale, where properties differ from those observed at a large scale.
In the case of nanotechnology, it consists of the design, characterization, production, and application of structures, devices, and systems by controlling their shapes and dimensions at the nanoscale; that is, the application of knowledge generated in nanoscience.
Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025) is the largest trade event in Cuba and the region, and following its opening on Monday, its organizers anticipate the attendance of businesspeople, private entrepreneurs, specialists, and official and chamber delegations from at least 50 countries.
