SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Sep 8 (ACN) Santiago de Cuba is making progress today in restoring its electrical system after the disconnection that occurred in the east of the country on Sunday night due to a break on the 220 kV Nuevitas-Las Tunas line.
Engineer Lester Cedeño, director of the Provincial Electrical Dispatch, told the press that the southeastern province was able to synchronize with the National Electric Power System (SEN) as of 12:00 a.m.
He said that circuits have been restored in the nine municipalities of the untamed territory, 23 in the main city, including three 33 kV lines.
He also stated that the Antonio Maceo Thermoelectric Plant (Rente) was disconnected from the SEN this morning, and that, depending on conditions, it will continue to be restored gradually.
The directive affirmed his commitment to continue working to guarantee service and address the population's concerns.
According to the Electric Company's forecast for peak hours, availability is projected at 1,910 MW and demand at 3,450 MW, which would generate a deficit of 1,540 MW, resulting in a loss of 1,610 MW.
