HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel reaffirmed Cuba's support for Venezuela in the face of imperialist threats.
On his account on the social network X, the president stated that "the land of Bolívar and Chávez cannot be intimidated with threats or gunboats," and emphasized that "Latin America will defend its hard-won right to remain a Zone of Peace."
"The land of Bolívar and Chávez cannot be intimidated with threats or gunboats. And it is not alone in its brave resistance against imperial arrogance. Latin America will defend its hard-won right to remain #ZoneOfPeace."*
The head of state's statement comes in support of the strong declaration issued by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which rejected the current deployment of U.S. military forces in the Caribbean Sea, describing it as a dangerous act that represents a serious threat and an aggressive show of force that violates the sovereignty and self-determination of the peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The text from the Cuban Foreign Ministry points out that this deployment ignores the commitment of the 33 member countries of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) to proclaim the region as a Zone of Peace.
The diplomatic statement qualifies as an absurd and baseless pretext the U.S. allegation that associates the legitimate government of Venezuela and its president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, with criminal organizations involved in illicit drug trafficking.
In this regard, it highlights that even the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), in its report this year, does not mention the Government of Venezuela among the perpetrators or facilitators of drug trafficking operations.
The MINREX declaration provides compelling data, stating that the United States is the largest market for narcotics in the region and possibly in the world, according to the 2025 Global Drug Report issued by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
