Havana, Aug 7 (ACN) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel extended his condolences to the people and government of Ghana after the tragic helicopter accident occurred August 6 in the Ashanti region which killed eight people including top government authorities.
In an X message, Diaz-Canel said that upon learning of the helicopter accident in Ghana, which claimed the lives of the Ministers of Defense and the Minister of the Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Cuba extends its solidarity and condolences to the government and people of the sister African nation.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez also regretted the fatal accident which also killed the vice president of the ruling party (National Democratic Congress) Samuel Sarpong, a national security advisor and all four crew members.
The helicopter departed the Ghanaian capital towards the Obuasi gold mining zone, in the Ashanti region to deal with an illegal gold mining event. The government of Ghana decided to launch a probe into the event to clarify the causes and declared three days of national mourning.lc
