Cuban FM presides over swearing-in of new Cuban diplomats

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 11 (ACN) With the mission of establishing themselves as pillars of revolutionary diplomacy in the international arena, the swearing-in ceremony of 26 new Cuban consuls and heads of consular offices abroad was held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MINREX by its Spanish acronym) in Havana.

The ceremony was led by Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister; Oscar Manuel Silvera Martinez, minister of justice; and first colonel Mario Mendez Mayedo, head of the Directorate of Identification, Immigration, and Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), among other guests.

On behalf of the new heads of diplomatic missions, Nayma Acosta Aguirre, Consul General to Mérida, Mexico, reaffirmed the willingness of those present to defend the sovereignty of Cuba and the foundations of the Cuban revolutionary project in every corner.

She emphasized that, in keeping with this commitment, each person's conduct must be characterized by clear convictions, firm principles, and absolute dedication to the homeland, as well as ethics, human sensitivity, and an unwavering commitment to the cause in the face of any adversity.

As Cuba's voice to the world, it is our duty to build bridges of peace, love, and fraternity among people, to fulfill our duty and with an eye toward the well-being of the people and the construction of a prosperous and sustainable socialism, sovereignly elected by the majority of the inhabitants of the Caribbean nation, she added.

Following this, recognitions were presented to a group of 24 Consular Offices that achieved outstanding results in 2024 in providing political assistance to Cubans living abroad and in consular management.

The new consuls and heads of consular offices will soon begin to carry out their assigned responsibilities, with the added motivation of continuing the Cuban revolutionary diplomatic tradition, forged over more than a century of struggles for independence and sovereignty.
