National meeting of producers closed with mayor objectives

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 7 (ACN) The 1rst Meeting between State-Owned and Non-State Food Producers and Processors concluded at the Havana Agricultural Fair, providing a space for dialogue, exchange of experiences, and coordination to strengthen the Cuban agricultural sector.

Jose Luis Tapia Fonseca, Cuban deputy PM, attended the event, stressing the importance of integration among all economic actors, without distinction between state and private, as a first step toward advancing domestic production and import substitution.

He also recognized the value of sharing experiences, identifying obstacles, and proposing joint solutions to boost marketing and productive linkages, in addition to achieving progress in marketing and foreign currency schemes.

Among the main results of the meeting were the formation of alliances between producers and marketers, to facilitate coverage of expenses on raw materials and packaging.

The creation of a website and a digital catalog with information on all participants, their products, and contacts was agreed upon to facilitate communication and business opportunities between producers, retail chains, and the tourism sector.

Tapia Fonseca, in addition to convening the 2nd meeting of this type, proposed the organization of provincial and national fairs, including a large trade fair on July 26 in Havana, open to all stakeholders interested in exhibiting and selling their products to the people.

Furthermore, the participants presented challenges such as the need for greater agility in payments, allocation of inputs, recognition of the national value chain, and emphasized the urgency of prioritizing Cuban products in the domestic market to guarantee competitive prices and certified quality.

The Deputy Prime Minister reiterated the government's commitment to supporting all economic stakeholders, reviewing marketing mechanisms, and ensuring that new policies respond to the realities of the sector.
