HAVANA, Cuba, July 2 (ACN) Identifying opportunities for exchange and cooperation, sharing views about current global challenges, and promoting joint projects that impact sustainable development are among the motivations of the Cuba-Russia Youth Forum "Legacy, Innovation, and Future."
Meyvis Estévez Echevarría, first secretary of the National Committee of the Young Communist League (UJC), stated that both countries are united in a common struggle for a new international order based on solidarity, anti-imperialism, and multilateralism and highlighted the efforts of the new generations to have more just, equitable, and prosperous societies and always protect their sovereignty and independence.
“In a world where Yankee imperialism is trying to impose its rule, young people are raising their voices to denounce the U.S. blockade of Cuba and the re-inclusion of the island on the infamous list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism”, she stressed. “Also part of this cause is our denunciation of NATO’s offensive military doctrine and its attempts to expand toward Russia's borders, threatening global peace and stability”.
On his end, Grigori Petushkov, president of the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia, called for values such as solidarity and freedom to be more than just words and become a tool to promote more meetings in support of youth movements and greater attention to history.
The Forum addressed major topics such as the UJC’s role in leading the new generations of Cubans; public policies on children, adolescents, and young people; the ecosystem of youth-oriented policies in Russia, and patriotic education as a pillar of progress.
