HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 20 (ACN) Executives of the Cuban Telecommunications Company (Etecsa by its Spanish acronym) stated that the implementation, starting today, of an additional two-gigabyte (2GB) plan, for 1,200 pesos (CUP), will allow a greater number of mobile phone users to have greater internet access.
In a meeting with local media in Havana, Yusmany Rojas Perez, deputy director of the Commercial Vice Presidency, explained that this is an intermediate plan, with a lower and more affordable price than the 3GB plan announced weeks ago for 3,360 CUP, although it still does not satisfy the needs of many customers.
She stated that, as explained in recent days, this measure and others like it respond to the need to generate income that will allow Etecsa to improve its infrastructure and services to the population.
Rojas Perez stated that browsing cycles are now being extended, as this plan has been added to the existing plans, which can be purchased for a one-time period of 30 days and is valid for 35 days.
Both Rojas Perez and Arely Gonzalez Fernandez, Etecsa's Main Director of Institutional Relations, explained to the press that payment is made from the bank accounts on the cards associated with these applications, not from the balance or top-up on the main mobile service account itself.
The Deputy Director of the Commercial Vice Presidency also point out that they continue working with a group of organizations and institutions to find solutions that allow students and other sectors to have greater access to browsing, whether through institutions or through some other means.
