HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 26 (ACN) On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the State Security Organs (OSE), Cuba paid tribute to the so-called "Silent Soldiers", who anonymously prevent actions against the Revolution.
Attending the ceremony was Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel attended the ceremony, whereas Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs, used a post on X to congratulate the battle-hardened members of the force.
"Your permanent service to the Homeland and the Revolution has made it possible to stand up to those who try to sow terror and put an end to the tranquility of the Cuban people," he wrote in his message.
On March 26, 1959, less than 12 weeks after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution (January 1), Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz ordered the establishment of the State Security Organs, a merger of the Department of Investigation of the Rebel Army (DIER) and the intelligence
agencies of the Navy and the National Revolutionary Police (G-2 PNR), until then engaged in the fight against counterrevolutionary activity.
The OSE came into being in response to the need to strengthen the country’s defensive actions against the acts of sabotage, pirate plane raids, conspiracies, and smear campaigns concocted in the U.S. since January 1st, 1959.
