Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz described his recent official visit to Congo―the first stop of a tour of Africa that will also take him to Namibia and Equatorial Guinea―as successful and conducive to stronger bilateral relations.
During his stay, Marrero Cruz met with members of the Cuban medical brigade deployed in Congo and valued as noble their mission to save lives in different countries of the world while the enemies of the Revolution try to discredit the work of Cuban doctors, he said.
More than 500 Cuban health professionals have treated more than 631,000 patients since the island offered their cooperation to this African nation in 1965.
The Premier’s program also included a meeting with Congolese President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso during which they talked about history and the possibilities to raise economic and trade relations to the same level as political relations, as well as with Pierre Ngolo, president of the Congolese Senate, to whom he conveyed warm greetings from Esteban Lazo, president of the National Assembly of People's Power and stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen parliamentary ties.
Marrero Cruz will travel to Namibia to attend both President-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s inauguration on March 21 and the celebrations for the 35th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.
