HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 25 (ACN) Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban foreign minister, confirmed Cuba's relations with organizations and countries around the world, in the context of the High-Level Segment of the 58th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.
According to the head of Cuban diplomacy on X, on Monday he reiterated to Versan Aghabekian, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Palestine, the support of the Caribbean nation for the return of refugees and the recognition of the independent Palestinian State within pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Rodriguez Parrilla condemned in the meeting the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people and the plan to remove the population of Gaza.
As part of the day, the Foreign Minister met with his Belarusian counterpart, Maximo Rizhenkov, to whom he reaffirmed the priority Cuba gives to ties with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) during the pro tempore presidency of Belarus in 2025.
He also reiterated the commitment to continue deepening the historic friendship and cooperation relations, as well as economic and trade ties.
Cuban minister reaffirmed his country's commitment to the achievement of nuclear disarmament, in a dialogue with Izumi Nakamitsu, United Nations Under-Secretary General for Disarmament Affairs.
In another post, Rodriguez Parrilla informed that the official thanked the island's contribution in the disarmament discussions, including the negotiations of an eventual treaty banning weapons in space and in the universalization of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
The diplomat highlighted the good state of relations between the Caribbean country and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) during his conversation with Mirjana Spaljaric, president of that organization.
With Rebeca Grynspan, secretary general of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rodriguez Parrilla discussed the relevance for developing countries of this year's 16th UNCTAD Trade and Development Ministerial Conference, to be held in October in Vietnam.
He considered that this event is highly relevant for developing countries in the face of those who promote isolationism and unilateral coercive measures.
During his exchange with Edir Baisalov, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, the Cuban foreign minister agreed on the good state of bilateral relations and the need to continue working to strengthen economic, trade, scientific-technical and cooperation ties.
Rodriguez Parrilla arrived in Geneva to participate in the opening of the High-Level Segment of the 58th regular session of the Human Rights Council, where he reiterated Cuba's commitment to the promotion, protection and respect for human rights, based on their universal, indivisible, interdependent and interrelated nature.
