Havana, Jan 13 (ACN) The Southern Cross Solidarity Brigade visited the western province of Pinar del Rio, where activist Vinicio Molina said that the group will keep supporting Cuba till the US economic, commercial and financial blockade is lifted.
Molina told ACN that the Brigade activists, from Australian and Neo Zealand come here every year to learn more about the impact of the US policy against Cuba. This can only be understood by visiting the island nation, he noted.
The mainstream media say that the blockade does not exist; however this country could advance more if it were not under the blockade, stressed the activist, who is also president of Australia’s Communist Party and member of that country’s Construction Union.
Molina, who has come here a dozen times since 1997, also said that the USA fears the fact that Cuba is that “bad” example defending the ideal that a better world is possible an necessary.
The brigade has staged protests in front of the US consulate in Australia; they have joined global actions against the US blockade like Bridges of Love, and they have raised funds to back different projects, said Elizabeth Hulm, member of the Society in Friendship with Cuba.
Hulm said that she has come to Cuba six times and although she knows that Cubans are facing difficult time, she always meet happy people who are working together.
All 13 activists with the Southern Cross Brigade will stay in Cuba till January 23 meeting a tight agenda, which includes visits to the western provinces of Pinar del Rio, Havana and Matanzas.
