HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 30 (ACN) The 13th meeting of the Joint Commission for cooperation in science and technology of the governments of Cuba and the People's Republic of China is meeting today in Havana with the aim of promoting their ties since its creation 35 years ago.
Scientists from both countries will exchange first in subgroups of Molecular Immunology, Neurosciences, Sericulture and Cooperation of Cuba with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the National Natural Science Foundation of China, officially informed the Cuban News Agency.
Shortly thereafter, government representatives of the two nations will hold their meeting, whose antecedents date back to 1989, when they decided to strengthen joint work related to science, technology and innovative processes.
The grouping is co-chaired by their respective ministries, which organized 12 meetings to promote cooperation in areas such as biotechnological development, seismicity studies, meteorology, social and humanistic, agricultural and basic sciences, and the possibility of training human resources.
In its 13th session, topics related to biotechnological development, food production, energy transition and, in particular, nanoscience and nanotechnology will be discussed.
Armando Rodriguez Batista, deputy minister of science, technology and environment, said that this edition “will reaffirm the conviction of both countries in supporting this important area of knowledge and fostering joint efforts to build the shared future to which we aspire.
According to their program, the visitors will tour areas of the Molecular Immunology, Neurosciences and Advanced Studies Centers of Cuba, and will be received by Walter Baluja Garcia, Minister of Higher Education.
