CAMAGUEY, Cuba, Sep 2 (ACN) Primary education in the south-central province of Camagüey has 24 mobile teachers to provide pedagogical attention to 72 students with health conditions that prevent them from attending school during the new school period that begins today in Cuba.
Gibsy Santiago Atanay, head of this educational level in the Provincial General Directorate, explained that these teachers receive a methodological preparation in primary and special schools and with the support of specialists from the Center for Diagnosis and Orientation, they make the curricular adaptations that each child requires.
As part of this preparation, she said, these teachers are encouraged to learn about the different areas of knowledge so that they can achieve a better attention to diversity and enrich their general integral culture.
She emphasized that the role of the mobile teachers is not only in the cognitive aspect, but also through this noble work they are able to influence the heart, soul, life, action and feelings of their students.
Loreley Suarez Capdevila, general director of the sector, commented that the main challenge for this school year will be teacher coverage, which is only 84 %, although alternatives are being used to cover the more than 2,000 needs that exist.
Regarding the main priorities, she highlighted the primary education strategy, the teaching of English, the intensive preparation for the admission to Higher Education, the political-ideological work and the educational-preventive work to ensure the general integral formation of the students.
