Havana, April 30 (ACN) Cuban Tourism Minister Juan Carlos Garcia announced on Tuesday the joining by Cuba of the International Code for the Protection of Tourists.
On his X account, Garcia said that such action is in tune with the development of a tourism of peace, health and safety promoted by the island as a tourist destination.
The announcement came in during the 69th Regional Tourism Commission for the Americas, held in Varadero, Cuba. The forum, which was opened by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero, was attended by 24 Tourism ministers from all member nations.
The document accrediting Cuba’s joining of the Code was handed in by the general secretary of UN Tourism, Zurab Pololikashvili and it encompasses a set of principles and guidelines on the protection of tourists in emergency situations.
The forum allow debates on current trends and prospects of international tourism in the Americas was preceded by a seminar on Community Tourism on Monday.
Just hours ahead of the 42nd International Tourism Fair –May 1-5—the forum is being attended by directives of tourism from around the world.
