HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 19 (ACN) Miguel Diaz-Canel, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the country, attended today the Namibian embassy to Havana to sign the book of condolences opened after the recent death of President Hage Geingob.
We will never forget our brother and his expressions of solidarity, affection and love for the Cuban people, wrote Diaz-Canel, according to a publication on X of the Presidency.
Samuel Goagoseb, Namibian ambassador to Cuba, said that the presence of the president on a day like today was very significant and meant the beautiful relationship of his country with Cuba.
Hage Geingob, president of Namibia, died on February 4 at the Lady Pohamba Hospital in Windhoek, where he was receiving medical treatment, and on the occasion of his death, Cuba decreed Official Mourning from 6:00 a.m. on February 5 until 12:00 p.m. on February 6, 2024.
The late leader contributed to consolidate and strengthen the historic brotherly relations between both countries; he received the "Carlos Manuel de Cespedes" Order in 1994 and was awarded the Jose Marti Order, which will be given posthumously.
