Cuba recalls victims of the Tarara crime

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 9 (ACN) Manuel Marrero Cruz, Cuban Prime Minister, recalled today the four combatants who were victims of the Tarara crime in 1992.

On X, the head of government expressed his sorrow when recalling that tragic event that took place on January 9, 1992, where the lives of four members of the Ministry of the Interior (Minint) were blinded while trying to prevent an illegal exit through Tarara, protecting the Cuban coasts.

In the same social network, the Minint paid tribute to Orosman Dueñas, Yuri Gomez and Rafael Guevara, killed in the action, as well as Rolando Perez Quintosa who died days later from the injuries caused.

With the purpose of reaching U.S. shores and taking advantage of the Cuban Adjustment Act, seven assailants broke into the Tarara Nautical Base, on the Havana coast, causing the death of soldier Orosman Dueñas Valero, of the Border Guard Troops, third sergeant Yuri Gomez Reinoso, of the National Revolutionary Police, and custodian Rafael Guevara

First Sergeant Rolando Perez Quintosa, a PNR agent, was wounded in the action and died after 37 days fighting for his life due to bullet wounds.

In February, the sentence of Case 3 of that year (1992) was carried out, with the death penalty being applied to the two most responsible for the crime; the others implicated received different penalties.
