Cuban Communist Party meeting evaluates progress in the economy

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 11 (ACN) The Fifth Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC PCC) evaluated on Saturday the country's progress despite the difficult economic situation.

Headed by the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, during the debates held at the Conventions Center in Havana, it was reported that Cuba develops transformation actions in 1,098 communities to protect 19,904 families, including 3,798 mothers of children with severe disabilities, as well as 13,943 beneficiaries receive social assistance services at home.

Social security has protected 1,685,231 people, and the generation of jobs, the main way to face situations of vulnerability and income from work provided, was positively valued, according to the meeting.

It was emphasized in the Plenary that one of the country's priorities is to stabilize the national electric power system, for which reason a strategy was designed to increase availability and minimize the impact on the service due to generation capacity deficits.

In this sense, resources are allocated to carry out other projects in 2023, such as the payment of mobile generation, repair of motors, CTE parts and pieces, photovoltaic solar parks, grids, transformers and substations.

Other topics discussed this Saturday are the situation with the fuel and energy deficit, the slowdown of cement, steel, agriculture, sugar industry and other items, the behavior of exports of goods such as nickel, tobacco, rum, honey and sea products, among others.

Also participating in the meeting were Roberto Morales Ojeda, Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee; Esteban Lazo Hernández, President of the National Assembly of People's Power; Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister; Salvador Valdés Mesa, Vice President of the Republic; Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera, Minister of the FAR, and other members of the Political Bureau.
