Havana, Dec 13 (ACN) Latin American and Caribbean leaders began to arrive in Cuba since Monday to participate at the 20th Summit of the regional integration organization known as Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our Americas-People’s Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP), which open sessions Tuesday, December 14 in Havana.
Upon his arrival in the Cuban capital Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro described the heads of state and government meeting as a summit of unity, solidarity and brotherhood. He added it is an appropriate occasion to reaffirm “our commitment to unity and integration.”
Bolivia’s President Luis Arce is also in Havana heading his country’s delegation to the summit. Bolivia joined the ALBA organization in April 2006.
Grenadian Prime Minister Keith Claudius Mitchell is also in Havana for the summit as well as other regional leaders.
The ALBA-TCP regional organization was set up December 14, 2004 and it’s made up of Venezuela, Cuba, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia, Grenada and Saint Kitts and Nevis.
