US senators reject new flight restrictions to CubaHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 5 (acn) Senators of the United States Democratic Party opposed to their government's policy towards Cuba sent a letter to the Executive to reject the new restrictions imposed on flights to the Caribbean island.

In the letter, sent to the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo; and the head of Transportation, Elaine Chao, 11 members of the Senate warned that the decision to suspend commercial air travel to nine Cuban international airports "is another step back for the people of Cuba and the United States."
According to Prensa Latina, the members of the Upper House expressed that the approach of Donald Trump administration towards Cuba "has severely harmed US and Cuban businesses, farmers and citizens, while not achieving any foreign policy or national security objective of the United States."
They also argued that the elimination of flights to nine Cuban destinations will adversely affect US carriers, which are forced to terminate service to these cities within 45 days, as part of the economic, commercial and financial blockade policy of the White House to Cuba.
This determination, which gives continuity to previous measures to limit educational and cultural trips to Cuba, will harm Cuban-American families and reduce business opportunities and contacts between peoples, said the signatories, including Democratic presidential candidates Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren.
The reaction of these senators occurs after last October 25; the State and Transportation departments announced that as of December 10, all commercial flights to Cuban destinations outside of Havana are suspended.
