HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 18 (acn) Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, second secretary of the Central Committee of the Cuban Communist Party and Vice President of the councils of State and Ministers, signed today in this capital the book of condolences for the terrorist attack occurred on July 14 in the city of Nice, France.
I also want to express our feelings of solidarity to the French people and especially the families of the victims, wrote Machado Ventura, who was accompanied by Rogelio Sierra, Deputy Foreign Minister.
At times like these we must express feelings, and that's what we came to do on behalf of the bonds of fraternity and solidarity that unite us with the French people, he told reporters.
The top Cuban official, in a conversation with the French Ambassador to Cuba, Jean-Marie Bruno, highlighted the importance of combating terrorism in all its forms, "wherever it comes from," he insisted.
Bruno, in exclusive statements to ACN, asserted that the French people remain in shock, and underlined the cruelty suffered during an evening of joy and national unity.
He recalled that unfortunately this is not the first time that his country suffered a terrorist act, adding that Cubans have always shown solidarity with the French people.
The diplomat acknowledged the excellent ties of friendship that exist between the two countries, strengthened with the visit of the French president to Cuba and that of President Raul Castro to France, with which, he stressed, the relationship took an important step forward, and a long-term economic and cultural link is being built.
On Thursday, a truck charged at a crowd celebrating the National Day of France on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, as a result of which 84 people were killed and more than 200 were wounded.
