HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 11 (acn) The Vice-president of the Cuban Council of State, Salvador Valdes, arrived on Tuesday in Angola to participate in commemorative festivities on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of that African nation's independence.
Upon his arrival to the international airport of Luanda, according to the Prensa Latina news agency, Valdes was received by the Angolan Minister of Agriculture, Pedro Canga, Cuban ambassador Gisela Garcia and officials of Havana's diplomatic mission.
During his conversation with Canga, Valdes conveyed greetings of the historic leader of the Cuban revolution, Fidel Castro and the President of the councils of State and Ministers, Army General Raul Castro, to the Angolan government and people, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of national liberation.
In addition, he recalled the strong bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation existing between the two nations.
Canga welcomed the visitor and spoke about the agricultural development of the island.
According to his agenda, Valdes will be received on Tuesday by the President of Angola's National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, and later he will attend the inauguration of the new building of the Angolan Parliament.
The Cuban delegation to these celebrations is also composed of Major General Antonio Enrique Lusson, Vice-president of the Council of Ministers; Brigadier General (R) Rafael Moracen; Deputy Foreign Minister Ana Teresita Gonzalez, and Ambassador Garcia.
